Brewer's Notes

Sunbathing Owl Citrus Ale has that golden ale base style with a light to medium body. The local Calamansi can be overpowering, especially we have the puree style, so we want to strike the balance with the Japanese Sansho Pepper. The citrus notes is very nuanced, slightly peppery, and very refreshing and easy to drink. There's a little touch of malt sweetness from a combination of the Japanese malt with the imported malt.

5 Stars is not enough!

This is one of the best soo far to ever come out from Engkanto. You can really taste the quality in this collaboration brew. The calamansi really comes out the instant you crack open the bottle, and it comes out even more when you take a sip. It's a very citrus forward beer, with the balanced bitterness in the finish. Best part about the finish is the slight spice from the Sancho peppers. Just perfect!

I’m a fan of both Engkanto brewery and Hitachino brewing so I might be a little biased, but boy, is this beer is really something else.

Citrusy and refreshing, and a myriad of flavors that I don’t even know how to describe.

Great new addition

Wasn't sure what to expect when I read promos including a pepper character, but was very impressed with this new release. Super refreshing, the citrus hits you right away followed by a subtle, but noticeable pepper accent. Overall, great new beer and unique within the Engkanto lineup.
